Xposure Music Aims To Even The Playing Field With Their Artist Feedback Service

As an artist in a very saturated music industry, getting your music and brand in the right hands is a necessity. Due to the shortened attention spans cause by the vast number of songs and artists that are released daily, the music industry has moved from an artist development focus to more of a numbers game. This change has made it clear that artists need to get the attention of A&R’s, producers, and managers that can elevate their careers. With so much nuance in the idea of being found, artists are on a never-ending search for attention on the business side while also having to handle rejection. This is where Xposure Music comes in.

Xposure Music is a Montreal-based start-up whose goal is to unlock a “new front door” to the music industry by providing a platform that benefits both musicians and those hoping to discover them. The platform excels in its approach, and it has established a pathway to forge a new frontier of artist development in the industry. Artists development has been missing from the industry for at least half a decade, and we are starting to see the results of underdeveloped artists reaching the highs and burning out quickly. Xposure Music gives power back to the talent.

The company was founded in 2021 by Gregory Walfish & Ryan Garber with a “dream to give all artists in the industry an opportunity to get their music in the hands of any high-level executive they can imagine.”

“We wanted to compress what might take months of outreach or thousands of dollars to get to the right place at the right time, into an engaging interaction for artists and pros. We want to help people find that breakout moment.” – Gregory Walfish

How does it work? It works by getting musicians to sign up and submit their music to its roster of experts from labels, management firms, marketing agencies and social media companies who determine their own service prices. Artists can pay for written or video feedback, as well as a live call with an executive. Although there are paid options, there is a free submission option without guaranteed feedback. The professionals can set their rates for written, audio and video feedback, but artists aren’t charged until they’ve received it. Xposure doesn’t take a cut of any future artist revenue — just 25% of transactions made on the platform.

While it isn’t the first platform to connect artists with music execs, Xposure differentiates itself by focusing on the individual experience.

“Other platforms limit you to a certain number of characters and do little to prevent reviewers from posting unhelpful or even hurtful comments,” Walfish explains. “Others have a low price point, but feedback that’s delivered at scale, which is also not helpful. We wanted to make sure artists got specific, detailed responses that could help them improve their craft and move their careers forward. For example, a UMG A&R exec gave one of our artist beta testers a five-minute video full of advice.”

Xposure Music is a positive disruptor in an ever-changing industry. It is a platform aiming to level the playing field and, they are providing exposure to creatives across the board. This will allow talented artists that may not be good at social media a fair chance to be heard. So, make sure to check them out below!
