It isn’t often that you find an artist that can truly speak to your soul and evoke raw emotions through picturesque language and a sorrowful cadence. However, emerging singer-songwriter, Jaime Deraz, has been captivating listeners with blissful nature paired with her melancholy vocal to create a distinct emotional ambivalence, which is snapshotted in her writing. Although I’m fairly new to her discography, she debuts on our pages with her enchanting new single “Sadie”, and it may be the best song we have heard all week.
‘Sadie’ is an emotionally driven pop track that reminisces in detail on a short-lived, yet ever-lasting romance. Lyrically, Jaime Deraz wears her heart on her sleeve as she reflects on the whirlwind fling- admitting that she fell fast, without even knowing their name. The production builds with the longing & anticipation, leaving listeners hoping the New York native will reconnect with her “star crossed love”. Ultimately- she finds herself returning home with just the memories and a space in her heart reserved for “Sadie”- whatever her real name may be.
