Anytime I need positive energy or need a smile, Mod Sun has always been my go-to. The Minnesota-born singer/songwriter is well accomplished in about everything he does, and he has this crazy ability to make you look at the bright side of life. With his new single ‘Heavy’, he recruits the current king of sad-pop, blackbear, to accompany him on this emotional rollercoaster.
‘Heavy’ is an emotional record about hearing news that rocks your life to the point of no return. In those moments, Mod Sun and blackbear discuss the harsh reality of taking the blame for the actions of a significant others’ decisions. Every time the two artists collaborate, the result is always a hit. The melodies are smooth and the hook is so infectious that it will be stuck in your head well after you stop listening. In addition, the production contains elements of punk, electronic, and trap. The song is a perfect mix, and it has to be one of my favorite songs of the year.
