Yuki the Boss Take Us To A New “HORIZON” On Their Debut EP

In a music industry that is very “single’s” driven, we have continued to see less and less artists put the needed time into a project. In addition, we have also seen artists push to create projects that feel more like a collection of songs than a cohesive body of work. Although it is hard to find a perfect medium where you get a cohesive project, there are still artists that are yearning to beat the odds. This week, I was happy to come across Yuki the Boss. Yuki is the child Kanye had with Damon Albarn. Their staple sound is bedroom beats with guitars, samples, and raw vocals. In my opinion, this is what makes their sound so captivating. They are going against the industry standard, and they are cultivating a sound that feels genuinely relatable. Now, they debut on our pages with their debut EP “HORIZON’.

“HORIZON” is a beautiful project that discusses the struggles in life, overcoming difficulties, and trying to have a good time. Although this is their debut EP, the songs feel fleshed out and refined. For starters “Tempa” is the soundtrack to my summer. It’s a bubbly track laced with lush melodies, captivating vocals, and a hook that will make you want to sing along. Another standout record was “Individualism”. With spoken vocals and a hip hop-influenced sound, the song does slowly transcend in a more lo-fi indie track. While “In Dreams” shows a more dreamy/hazy feel which helps round out the project. Overall, Yuki the Boss do an incredible job, and they have really made us fans. So, stream the EP below and vibe out!
