Hailing from Vietnam, emerging Jazz musician, Nguyen Anh (a.k.a tttc), has taken the music industry by storm. Known for a sound that blends elements of ambient and experimental, the newest artist of Ingrown Records enters our pages with his latest album, “Foretold”.

“Foretold” is a transformative album that is carried by 8 exceptional instrumental tracks that have an otherworldly soundscape. Each record consists of its own story, and tttc’s ability to convey himself within his sounds makes him so captivating. For me, the sheer ability to evoke raw emotions out of his listeners is such a unique talent. Using various techniques and instrumentation, I fell in love with the ambient tracks that were laced with warm synths. At times, I was almost hypnotized by some of his records. What separates this album for me was his creation process. Drawing inspiration from Marquez’s books, the album has a “realism” feel. There are field recording tracks, hybrid field record tracks, and almost all of the tracks were improvised (except track 3).

My favorite songs from the album were “Summer of Happiness” & “Monologue. I loved the rainy sound of ‘Monologue’ & the Sci-Fi feel of ‘Summer of Happiness’ was so intriguing. This is what tttc had to say about the album:

“I really love Marquez's books, so this album has "magical realism" concept. This is my newest album. I made it all by myself, from the mixing and mastering to the album cover, and so on.

Overall, this is one of my favorite albums this year. If you are looking for a refreshing album that will make you fall in love with music, stream “Foretold” below.
