Mills - Train of Thoughts (Album Review)

‘Train of Thoughts’? More like a train of perfection. This 8-song body of work from Mills might just be my favorite project I’ve heard all year.
Starting with the first track, it felt like a magnet drawing me in with those gorgeous vocal layers and cinematic feel. Moving quickly into the second track, Mills strips it back with this soft, yet intensified ballad that’s sung on such an intimate level. Just after two songs, we’ve already gotten so much emotion and various glimpses into this artist’s perspectives. As we move throughout the next few tracks, I was transported to a beach in summer with my best friends. I just love the way he paints such a clear image in each song!
The last three tracks wrap it up in the most beautiful way. ‘The End,’ the last song, feels like a culmination of the wanderlust, romantic theme carried throughout the project. This was a joy to listen through. It’s a clear how mature he is in his artistry and storytelling abilities. I urge you to take a listen and keep a close eye out for Mills as the year progresses!

I’m out here helplessly hoping”
