Tim Atlas Opens Up Like Never Before On His Latest EP, “Le Soir”

When it comes to music discovery, I’m always searching for artists that create songs that people can connect with. As a writer, I have been in the industry for a long time, and there isn’t a better rush then listening to an artist that gives you goosebumps. The feeling of being heard and hearing your thoughts from someone else can’t be explained. It’s a high that I always set out to find. However, with the oversaturation of the music industry, it gets harder and harder to find these genuine acts that are pushing music in a progressive direction. Everyone cares more about image and virality. Although this stands to be true, there is a new artist that I think has the “IT” factor. His name is Tim Atlas.

Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, the rising singer, songwriter, and producer has been developing a dedicated fanbase due to his innate ability to create sensible records. After impressing me with his album “Together Lonely”, he debuts on our pages with his latest EP “Le Soir”. “Le Soir” is a vibrant project that is part of a larger body of work that is set to come in the future. Tim Atlas floods a nocturnal hybrid of R&B, neo-soul, alternative, and D.I.Y. bedroom pop with unrestrained emotion on this latest project. Although comparison is the thief of joy, when comparing his latest project to his last album, Atlas opens up like never before on “Le Soir”.

“This E.P. is the first chapter of three. It’s a collection of songs that I wrote as a result of moving to N.Y.C., a place that has always allowed you to fully be yourself. I never defined myself as one thing, so this record is a testament to that,” says Tim.

Sonically, this is one of the most cohesive and daring projects I have heard this year. The project is a testament to Tim’s growth and maturity as an artist. On the 6-track EP, we hear the rising singer discuss a multitude of subjects while laso allowing the listener to connect. My favorite songs were “Knockin”, “Attractive”, & “Sushi in Wyoming”. “Sushi in Wyoming” is fueled by a slick drum pattern and glitchy synths. Tim states, “Driving cross country from L.A. to N.Y., we literally stopped in Wyoming for a night. At that point of the road trip, I couldn’t stomach another burger or gas station staple, so I opted for sushi. Sometimes the worst version of something you crave is better than the alternative. I wrote the title in my notes app so I wouldn’t forget that moment. It actually wasn’t bad.”

Overall, this is one of my favorite releases of the year so stream the EP below.
