When it comes to music discovery, I’m always searching for artists that create songs that people can connect with. As a writer, I have been in the industry for a long time, and there isn’t a better rush then listening to an artist that gives you goosebumps. The feeling of being heard and hearing your thoughts from someone else can’t be explained. It’s a high that I always set out to find. However, with the oversaturation of the music industry, it gets harder and harder to find these genuine acts that are pushing music in a progressive direction. Everyone cares more about image and virality. Although this stands to be true, there is a new artist that I think has the “IT” factor. His name is Sal Weston.

With roots that trace back to New Hampshire, the Boston-based singer-songwriter has crafted a sound that showcases a refreshing blend of catchy pop hooks and introspective songwriting. Inspired by a wide range of influences, Sal Weston's music draws from the likes of Roxy Music, The Strokes, The Smiths, Local Natives, Phoenix, Beck and The Modern Lovers to create a sound that is both nostalgic and contemporary. For me, he is one of the most polarizing artists out at the moment.

Now, he debuts on our pages with his latest album “Miraculous Weekend”. “Miraculous Weekend” is a 14-track album that delves into themes of love, self-discovery, and personal growth, resonating with audiences on a deep and relatable level. Over dreamy sonics, his records are laced with lush melodies, engaging synths, and ear-worm hooks that set him apart in the indie rock landscape. This album is a testament to his growth and versatility as an artist. This is what Sal Weston had to say:

“When I first started out on this project, I simply had a goal to make an album from start to finish where I would write the music, play the instruments, mix/master the songs, and of course me least favorite part promote the music. I quickly found out that this was an incredibly lonely and time-consuming project to take on by myself, so I started to reach out to some really talented people to help me along the way. During this project, I was fortunate enough to rekindle some old friendships, make new ones and learn a lot about myself… And for me, that’s really what music is all about self-expression and bringing people together.”

Overall, this has been one of the best sonic journeys I have experienced in the last few months. My favorite songs were “Our Love Knows”, “Fruit Parfait For Two”, “Beach Scene”, & “Tragedy”. If you are looking for a new album to get your hands on, stream this below!
