Hailing from Vancouver, rising artist, M.A.R, is who you NEED in your rotation. For those that are new to his sound, M.A.R is a multifaceted artist that has an innate ability to craft infectious singles that pull at listeners heartstrings. He is raw, and his sound has a pureness that can’t be overlooked. Drawing inspiration from various influences, M.A.R is dedicated to mastering every aspect of his craft from lyricism, to beat making, & artwork creation. His music blends experimental rap, self-produced instrumentals, and mesmerizing artwork to create a unique listening experience. For me, I’m a fan of him because his records delve into themes of love, self-discovery, and personal growth, resonating with audiences on a deep and relatable level. Although I’m still new to his sound, he debuts on our pages with his latest album “UNDERQUALIFIED (Official Short Film Soundtrack)”.

On the soundtrack, M.A.R shows his star power by producing, songwriting, and providing all the visuals. The 12-track album is a sonic masterpiece. In today’s age, many have to outsource to create projects. However, M.A.R can do it all on his own. He is a wizard behind the boards, and his keen ear makes him a standout amongst his counterparts. The key idea behind his music is finding your own identity. He creates a soundscape that urges listeners to rise above negativity and push to achieve their goals. Now, although this may be different than his usual work, his ability to create a cohesive collection of songs that fit a visual is reminiscent of Hans Zimmer. M.A.R has completely made me a fan. Mt favorite songs were “SINK OR SWIM”, “QUIT”, “MAD”, & “OUT NOW. Overall, this is of the most polarizing albums I have heard all year. There are no skips and each song carry’s its own unique identity. If you are looking for new music, stream the album below!
