With roots that trace back to the picturesque shores of Portland, Maine, indie psychedelic-pop group, The Middle Men, have taken the industry by storm. Known for drawing influence from early 2000s music, their sound can be described as a beautiful fusion of rock, pop, hip-hop, psychedelia, and alternative. They craft nostalgic records that beg to be heard, and they are a force to be reckoned with. After impressing me with their single “Freedom Song”, they enter our pages with their debut album “Birthday Party”.

“Birthday Party” is a 10-track masterpiece that dives into topics of life, anxiety, aliens, and relationships. This collection of songs is more than an album. “Birthday Party” is a sonic journey that you will not want to end. From start to finish, the album is carried by captivating singles that are laced with lush melodies, warm sonics, and ear-worm hooks that you won’t be able to get out of your head. For me, this project shows their versatility, and it proves that they have the ability to shine on their original music. The Middle Men are a very popular wedding and event band, but this new album shows they are so much more. Taking inspiration from the ups & downs of life, they created an album that is both relatable and entertaining to say the least. This is their magnum opus. “Birthday Party” is their coming out party, and I believe that it will cement their name within the music industry.

My personal favorite tracks from the album were “I Saw What I Saw” & “Electric Sunset”. Overall, this is one of the best albums of the year so stream it below and rock out!
