With roots that trace back to South Africa, American-based Xhosa singer-songwriter, Peter Ngqibs, is everything that the music industry needs. He is raw, genuine, and he has a knack for crafting emotive songs that pull at listener’s heartstrings. Ngqibs’ records are rooted in personal stories and playfulness with elements of social justice empowering the LGBTQ community. With collaborations with Moonchild Sanelly & Kyle Deutsch, Ngqibs has cemented himself as a burgeoning star within the industry. Now, he enters our pages with his sophomore album “wdys?”.

“wdys?” is more than an album. It’s a sonic journey that explores the idea of self-reflection & introspection. Taking two years to fully create the album, Ngqibs made sure to pour his heart & soul into this masterpiece. He delivered some of his best vocals and his songwriting was exceptional.

Standing for "What Do You See?", the album is one of the most cohesive bodies of work that I have heard this year. You can tell that Ngqibs paid close attention to every detail from the vocals to the production. With production from the renowned Gavin Bradley (credits: Nelly Furtado, Kylie Minogue, LeAnn Rimes, & more), Peter delivers an album that discusses topics of self-discovery and challenges listeners to reflect on their personal life. Peter Ngqibs questions, "What do you see when you look at yourself?”. The album features Moonchild Sanelly & Kyle Deutsch who are both talented artists.

For me the entire them of the album was easy to connect with. The album touches on themes of rejection, life and death, and the untapped potential within each of us to shape the lives we desire by reevaluating our beliefs about ourselves. With his ability to open up to the world through artistic expression, Ngqibs delivers the album of the year!
