In today’s music industry, it is very rare that I come across an artist that stands the test of time. Although I can blame it on oversaturation, I feel as if artists aren’t connecting to the listeners like they used to. Growing up, hearing a new song from your favorite artist was euphoric, and it served as a timestamp to one of the best moments of your life. When it came to the music, the songs and albums were pure and there were no shortcuts taken. From the sonics to the vocals, music was alive and well. Though I sometimes get lost in the blandness and plastic sound of today’s industry, there are a few artists that are still releasing groundbreaking music. I recently came across an exceptional artist that goes by the name Tennishu.

Hailing from Richmond, VA, Tennishu is a multifaceted that blends elements of Hip-Hop & Jazz to craft a unique sonic identity. His sound is raw, captivating, and innovative to say the least. Being an instrumentalist and exceptional artist has allowed him to raise his stock, and I believe that he’s one of the most polarizing artists out now. Although I’m still new to his sound, he has finally released his long awaited album, “More To The Story”.

“More To The Story” is a transformative album that highlights Tennishu’s journey and rise as an artist. It captures the peaks & valleys while also depicting the success that comes at the top of the mountain. For those that are artists, the road to success is never easy and it often feels lonely. You’ll spend hours honing in on a craft while having to deal with the stress and uncertainty of real life. On his latest album, Tennishu bears it all. He shines a light on his personal growth and the album serves as his magnum opus. My favorite tracks were “Sixes” & “Heat To Drop”. “Sixes” showcases Tennishu’s raw and exceptional delivery. Althoughthe into caught me off guard, his flows and the feel of the sonics were unmatched. My personal favorite was “Heat To Drop”. The record is carried by slower tempo and straightforward lyricism that draws you in from start to finish.

Overall, “More To The Story” is one of my favorite projects this year. From the sonics to the lyrics, it was everything I wanted in an album. So, stream the album below & vibe out!
