It’s very rare for me to be captivated by an artist on the first listen but rising singer-songwriter, Steinsdotter, has me hooked. I can’t put my finger on it, but she possesses this raw ability to hypnotize you with her records. Hailing from London, the avant garde pop artist has continued to captivate listeners with her alluring songs. She is raw, compelling, and she is the full package. Known for her ethereal pop sound, Steinsdotter’s music is considered to be daring & fearless. Although I’m still new to her, she debuts on our pages with her fiery new mixtape 'Ginnungagap'.

'Ginnungagap' is an innovative 10-track project that takes listeners on a sonic journey that they won’t want to end. The project showcases Steinsdotter’s versatility as an artist and a songwriter. For me, she proved that she had that “IT” factor. Although it’s not a conventional album, the mixtape is a collection of well-produced records that will have you wanting more. My personal favorites from the project were “Nightshift”, “Air”, & “Read My Hips”. “Nightshift” is laced with a pulsing bassline, otherworldly soundscapes, and an ear-worm hook. The song shows Steinsdotter’s personality, and it puts her sass on full display. She pulls you in with her seductive lyrics and her witch-glam aura. “Air” is a cinematic single that is more mellow compared to some of the other tracks. I loved the song arrangement and sonic build up on this record. This was my favorite record lyrically. “Read My Hips” embodies the songstress’ signature feminine, darkness infused sound. I loved the bassline and vocal delivery. There was definitely a Billie Eilish feel to this one. From the production to the performance, this record was flawless. Overall, Steinsdotter has my attention. She is one of the most polarizing artists out right now, and her new mixtape is everything that you need!
