Have you ever listened to an artist that caught your attention on the first listen? If so, what made them standout? Was it their cadence or overall delivery? Or was it their songwriting? This week, I came across a rising artist that made me fall in love with music all over again. That artist is rising singer-songwriter Scott Apple. Scott Apple has taken the music industry by storm. With his folk sound, his music radiates with a sun-soaked feel that is perfect for the summer & fall. Apple’s sound is colorful, vibrant, & captivating. In my opinion, it is one of the most refreshing sounds out. Now, he enters our pages with his long-awaited album, “Darling Citizen”.

“Darling Citizen” is a transformative album that highlights a journey of growth and resilience. It dives into the intimate moments of life while also giving an introspective look into the life of one of the most polished artists out. For me, “Darling Citizen” is a breath of fresh air, and it is laced with lush melodies, captivating lyrics, and the vocal delivery is exceptional. Exceeding expectations, Scott Apple’s songs evoked raw emotions out of me, and I found myself connecting with him as a human & an artist. Apple is the definition of a true artist, and this album is a testament to that.

My favorite songs were “So It Goes” & “Misfit”. Carried by a hazy guitar, “So It Goes” has a nostalgic feel that brings me back to my youth. I loved his vocal tone and the warmth of the production. Personally, “Misfit” was my favorite record lyrically. The song is laced with pop tones & bouncy basslines. I feel like this will be the most digestible song for a broader audience. Overall, this album is exceptional, and Scott Apple has impressed me. He has that “IT” factor.  “Darling Citizen” drops August 1st so make sure to get acquainted with Scott Apple’s sound because this album is amazing!
