Born on the internet and raised in San Diego, CA, burgeoning star, Scoobert Doobert, has recently taken the industry by storm. The multi-talented singer, producer, engineer, & instrumentalist has been making waves with his innate ability to craft infectious singles that pull at listener’s heartstrings. He is raw, daring, and his mature songwriting evokes emotions out of those that listen. It is very rare that I find an artist that has the ability to create art off of a compelling theme, but Mr. Doobert does this well. He does an exceptional job in storytelling, and his vocal delivery has only improved with time. Now, he enters our pages with his groundbreaking album “MÖB”.

“MÖB” is a compelling project that takes listeners on a sonic journey of pain, love, & appreciation. Recently, Scoobert nearly passed from a neurodegenerative disease called Guillain Barré Syndrome. The disease made him lose his ability to walk, to play guitar, and to see. With extensive rehab and perseverance to get better, Doobert was able to rehab himself back into shape and get back to the art he loves. This situation inspired the theme of appreciating what you have, because it could be taken at any time. Life isn’t fair, and Scoobert discusses the joy & pain that comes with it. He speaks his truth, and he allows us to dive into his struggles and triumphs.

“MÖB” is an unconventional album, but it is exactly what the industry needs. In a time where we praise virality and artist image, it is great to see artists that do it for the art. Over the 11-tracks, Doobert delivers a cohesive body of work that showcases his exceptional vocal range and songwriting. My favorite songs were “Gemini”, “Underwater”, & “Alien”.

Garnering a lot of attention leading up to the album, Doobert let it be known that this is the 1st of 4 albums. Doobert states, “Like a Möbius strip, my goal is to make a series of albums that connect and weave in mysterious ways. Next year, I'll be releasing two albums. The first will be called, I, and then the second will be named, US, before I culminate with the release of MÖBIUS in 2025.”

Building from album to album is a hard task, but Scoobert Doobert has the “IT” factor. He is captivating, and he shines among his counterparts. He has a story to tell, and I can’t wait to watch it unfold. Scoobert Doobert is the artist of the NOW. So, stream his new album and experience one of the best albums of the year.
