When it comes to music discovery, I am always search for artists that push the boundaries and bring you into their world. In a time where most modern music feels formulaic, I yearn for the artists that are making music that I consider healing. There is nothing like listening to a song or album that you connect with. For me, listening to music that gives me goosebumps is a high that I chase every time I play a new artist. Although the industry is saturated with artists and music emerging daily, I still find a way to come across hidden gems that are moving music forward. This week, I came across rising rapper Santa Sallet.

Hailing from Washington D.C., Santa Sallet is a rising rapper & hitmaker that has crafted a sound that is confident, raw, versatile, & playful. Due to his worldly upbringing, his sound is influenced by today’s music industry while also staying true to the nostalgia of hip-hops golden era. Personally, he is a breath of fresh air in an industry that I find to be oversaturated and that is why he stands out. Now, he enters our pages with his new album “Plutography”.

If you are someone who likes a wide range of sonics & storytelling, this is an album for you. It is raw, daring, and it is carried by dynamic sounds. For me, I consider this to be his magnum opus, and it cements him in a class of his own. From the themes to his consistent flows, this album is flawless. If I could describe this album, I would say it’s experimental, and it blends salsa beats, southern trap, & eastern jazz into one unique sound. Jumping into the album’s themes, “Plutography” is about learning how to succeed in the music industry. This is what Sallet had to say about the album:

“I spent four years releasing various singles, trying different marketing strategies, and working with a plethora of PR companies. Once I was satisfied with my marketing exploration, it was time to finally drop “Plutography” and mark the occasion. Filled with my own sample-heavy production and a few features, “Plutography” focuses on providing a variety of musical sounds combined with witty lyricism and strong vocal hooks. With 20 tracks on the official mixtape, I wanted to ensure there was something for anybody. So many sounds. So many beats. So many nights. “Plutography” represents the mania of the sounds in my mind as pursue riches and success in the music industry. “Plutography” is what you listen to when you are on your way to make money. “Plutography” is what all ambitious people strive to achieve. “Plutography” is the mixtape that will make you (and me) richer.”

My favorite songs were “Championship Ring” & “Doing It Well”. “Championship Ring” is an anthemic record laced with captivating rhyme schemes and dynamic production. This is the song that will be remember for years to come. If you like songs where the artist showcases their bravado and unhinge swagger, “Doing It Well” is also a must-listen. He absolutely steps on everyone’s neck on this record. Overall, this album NEEDS to be in your rotation. Stream it below and vibe out!
