Expansive, innovative, and captivating are all words that describe the sound of emerging duo ohrwurm. With little known about the origins of the burgeoning stars, the eclectic duo has taken the music industry by storm. They have this innate ability to take listeners on a sonic journey that they won’t want to end. Each song evokes raw emotions, and their production is exceptional. Now, he debuts on our pages with their latest EP, “heven”.

“heven” is a six-track masterpiece that is carried by a y2k-pop aesthetic that feels innovative and experimental. Over the EP’s duration, ohrwurm explores themes of hunting beautiful yet impossible dreams, fighting the ego, and falling in love under late summer skies. At times, the record takes me back to fever dreams I had when I was younger. The nostalgia that I found in this project made me want to revisit my angsty years when my world felt much smaller. Although the y2k-pop influence is there, the records are still complex and the attention to detail can be heard from the transitions and sonic progressions. Ohrwurm rose to the occasion and their feature from Swedish artist/producer Sabrina Li was a chef’s kiss.

My favorite songs from the EP were ‘I want u there 2’ & ‘chakra’. ‘I want u there 2’ is carried by emotive vocals that evoke raw emotions. The tone and the overall way the vocals sit in the production were exceptional. I was a huge fan of the instrumentation selections and the percussive elements. This was my favorite track sonically. I also loved the experimental elements of ‘chakra’. The intro of the record will have you hypnotized right before you hear the captivating vocals bless your ears. Overall, this is one of my favorite projects of the year so stream below!
