In today’s music industry, it is very rare that I come across an artist that stands the test of time. Although I can blame it oversaturation, I feel as if artists aren’t connecting to the listeners like they used to. Growing up, hearing a new song from your favorite artist was euphoric and it served as a timestamp to one of the best moments of your life. When it came to the music, the songs and albums were pure and there were no shortcuts taken. From the sonics to the vocals, music was alive and well. Though I sometimes get lost in the blandness and plastic sound of today’s industry, there are a few artists that are still releasing groundbreaking music. I recently came across an exceptional artist that goes by the name Chris Bullinger.

Hailing from Nashville, TN, Bullinger is an innovative artist that is pioneering the new age of artists. He is raw, daring, and he is captivating. Crafting a sound that embraces elements of outlaw country music with soulful undertones. The multi-instrumentalist has a keen ear for production, and his vocals are exceptional. His ability to create a genre-bending sound is what makes him stand out amongst his peers. He makes “REAL” music. Now, he debuts on our pages with his latest album, “Waitin’ to be Seen – Part 1”.

The 12-track masterpiece is flawless from start to finish. As a part of a double album, part 1 serves as the first installment that is sonically split between classic country & classic rock. “Waitin’ to be Seen – Part 1” details a tumultuous love story between a touring musician and a woman. His ability to show the feelings of both people and allow the listeners to empathize with the story is what makes the album so pure. Lyrically, the album evokes raw emotions out of the listeners.

Although I can be a music snob, there was something about this project that stood out to me. As I look back, I believe it was the inflections and overall vocal delivery. When you can feel the artist’s emotion in their vocals, you know they are making music they love. That is what I felt with this album.

My favorite songs were “Payin’ Dues”, “The Way Things Go”, & “Up All Night”. Those songs are a culmination of who Bullinger is an artist. He is an innovator and superstar. With that being said, stream his new album below!
