Nicki Knightz is a rapper that NEEDS to be in your rotation.

With roots that trace back to humble beginnings in Hackney (London), Nicki Knightz has been building a cult-like following with her daring sound. She is raw, fierce, and one of the most versatile rappers out. For me, she is everything that the music industry has been missing. If you are someone that has been hopelessly waiting for a rapper to push the sound forward, look no further. Nicki Knightz is the antidote you never thought you needed. Now, she enters our pages with her highly anticipated album “Lonely Girls Hearts Club”.

“Lonely Girls Hearts Club” is a spectacular introduction into the sound of Nicki Knightz, and I found this to be her magnum opus. With production from the exceptional Henny Knightz, Nicki shines on each track. The 8-track album explores themes of self-sabotage & trauma while providing a playful outlook on it all. Sonically, the album meshes the nostalgia of the 2000s with avant garde samples & classic 808s. I loved her confidence, swagger, and vocal performance. You can tell that she believes in herself, and that allows her well-crafted lyricism to hit harder.

My favorite songs from the album were “Lonely Girl Hearts Club (Intro)”, “Along Came Molly”, & “Icy”. The project opens with “Lonely Girls Hearts Club (Intro)”. The track dives into her upbringing and shines a light on how she didn’t grow up with a lot of societal norms. Nicki discusses the feeling of being an outside, but she also shows how she overcame it by finding more like-minded people/artists. The record display how she became a “lonely girl” but it also discusses her triumphs and will to bet on herself. I loved the lyrics and production on this one.

“Along Came Molly” has a groove that still isn’t out of my head. Sonically, the record is laced with inviting percussion, lush melodies, and her vocal performance can’t be overlooked. The track describes her experimentation with MDMA and the highs & lows that came with it.

“Icy” has the best hook on the album. Nicki seems a bit more aggressive and I loved her energy. Her vocal performance was sharp, and her cadence selections were engaging. Although it’s a much darker song compared to the others, Nicki’s rap ability is on full display, and she left no crumbs. This song is a middle finger to all doubter.

Overall, this has been one of the most memorable albums of the year and Nicki Knightz has my full attention. She is a star in the making and she has become one of my breakout artists for 2024!
