Ginger Beef Rise To The Occasion On Their Self-Titled Album, “Ginger Beef”

Rising instrumental pop-duo, Ginger Beef, is everything that the music industry has needed and more. Hailing from Calgary, Ginger Beef is a collaboration between the husband & wife team of award-winning flutist Jiajia Li & veteran producer/multi-instrumentalist Warren Tse. Together, they have formed into one of the most memorable bands that I have heard as of recent. If you are someone that has been hopelessly waiting for an artist or group to take your breath away, look no further. Ginger Beef is the antidote you never thought you needed. They are the definition of real artists. In a time where music feels stagnant, they are constantly pushing their sound forward. If I could describe them in a few words, I would say they are innovative, daring, & enchanting. Now, they debut on our pages with their self-titled album “Ginger Beef”.

Drawing from elements of pop & jazz, Ginger Beef’s self-titled album is the most refreshing album I have heard all year. The album is the result of two exceptional artists coming together to deliver age-defying art that we never knew we needed. Their instruments are their tools, and this album is their beautifully crafted canvas. “Ginger Beef” is vibrant, colorful, and I feel awakened mentally after listening to it. The album takes you on a sonic journey that you won’t want to end.

My favorite songs from the album were “Hocus Pocus” & “Dew”. “Hocus Pocus” is a funky record that is laced with rhythmic propulsions, dazzling guitar progressions, & passionate flute sequences. Sonically, this is one of the most exceptional songs from start to finish. The record is catchy and memorable. “Dew” is another song that left a lasting impact. I loved the arrangement on this record, and I enjoyed the indie-rock elements blended with jazz. “Dew” is spirited that’s carried by fabulous guitars, heady melodies, and the groove on this song will make you want to dance.

Although I’m new to the duo, they have impressed me. This album was more than music. I have built a connection with each song, and I can’t wait to hear more from them. Until then, I will keep streaming this masterpiece!
