Kiana Ledé - KIKI (Album Review)

I mean DAMN ‘KIKI,’ you done did it! Kiana Ledé just brought us an entire seventeen song album, which is very much anticipated and we were STOKED! She blew us out of the water by putting ‘Cancelled’ as the first song on the album and our personal favorite to get things going as she brings such courage and strength within her vocals and such a badass introduction to the album! The second song is anything but disappointing as well as Kiana Ledé keeps it ‘Movin.’ This song is the one that you’re going to be effortlessly ‘Movin’ to and will have on repeat for sure! Going through the list of songs on the album you get this very real idea of who Kiana Ledé is and how she holds her head held high! The confidence and “no bullshit” vibes she gives off is clearly portrayed and illuminated in the personality she’s showing us within the album.

‘Forfeit’ is such an invigorating song that really shows the power she holds and her stance in relationships which we loved! The independency she represents is something every girl will inspire to gain. We love how her vulnerability is also equally displayed in this album, ‘Crazy’ being one of the songs on there, where she shows it! She knows she’s crazy and isn’t afraid to say it, but she knows damn well knows who’s driving her this mad too! We loved the variety of artists throughout this album such as 6LACK, Col3trane and Lucky Daye.

She clears the board when it comes to her vocals strength and range, it’s unreal! We caught glimpses of Kehlani, Jhené Aiko and we even hear a slight Madison Beer similarity as well. ‘Good Girl’ really throws you for a leap and gives you this very sedative aura in the instrumental and flow as she speaks about falling for bad guy and how it’s such a pattern for those ‘Good Girls’ out there. So true! The last song on the album ‘No Takebacks’ we payed close attention to, knowing artists arrange albums to their liking specifically. It has this very raw and natural feel in the acoustic sound, while Kiana gives a tribute to someone who’s impacted her life with what they’ve said. This one felt very personal and hit our heartstrings to the core. There’s something for everyone in this album, which is exactly what you yearn and look for. Just start on ‘Cancelled’ and we assure you, you won’t be able to turn it off until you finish the whole album! Get to know ‘KIKI’ a little more, she’s pretty great!

Lyrics That Stick:

“I’m giving you one, two, three

To back the fuck up off me

Don’t front when you can’t back it up

It’s about time we wrap this shit up.”
