n today’s music industry, I feel like everything sounds the same. Everyone is either riding the same trends or they are creating songs with little substance. As an art form, music needs to be expressive, and there needs to be an identity behind the artists/bands that are making it. In a time where music feels formulaic and emotionless, I continue to search for artists/bands that are pioneering this next generation. Regardless of monthly listeners and hype, all I care about is the music. What story are you trying to tell? What sets you apart from the rest of the industry? Do I connect with this? These are all questions that I try to answer when finding new artists. This week, I came across regional South Australian outfit, Indiago.

Hailing from Adelaide Hills in rural Australia, Indiago have proven they are more than just a band. They are a family. Sonically, their songs are exceptional, and they have this innate ability to craft songs that evoke raw emotions out of their listeners. Their music is daring, expressive, and captivating at its core. To add to their ear-catching instrumentation, their vocalist hits notes that are otherworldly. For those that are still new to the band, they are 5 high-school mates that formed a band that has stood the test of time. Over the last few years, they have been nominated for Best Rock Act & Best Live Act at SA Music Awards, and they the winner of Best In Show at Royal Adelaide Show. With a lot of success behind them already, they enter our pages with their long-awaited album, “The Line”.

“The Line” is a 10-track masterpiece that explores the journey of 5 mates that shared a love for music together.  When it comes the creation process, the album was 3 years in the making, but their attention to detail is what made this album so monumental. The production was exceptional, and the vocals were a chef’s kiss. I have yet to hear anything this refreshing this year. My favorite songs were “Props”, “Alive”, & “Dreams”. As a new fan of the band, I felt like those records resonated with me the most.

Although I’m new to the band, Indiago have that “IT” factor. This is the kind of music that keeps you coming back for more. If you are looking for your new favorite band, look no further. Indiago have released what seems like an album of the year candidate. With that being said, stream it below and vibe out!
