The industry may have a new star on its hands with rising singer-songwriter Frankie Bird. With roots that trace back to Reading, UK, the 23-year-old singer has been building a cult-like fanbase with her innate ability to craft sensible singles that pull at listener’s heartstrings. She’s raw, enchanting, and she is genuine.

Frankie began her journey between at the age of 14, and she found herself writing and performing at local pubs. With a collection of songs to her name, I have yet to find an artist with her talent or versatility.  Whether she’s writing a catchy indie tune or emotional ballad, she always finds a way to captivate her listeners. If I could compare her to any major act, I would say that she’s similar to beabadoobee, Wolf Alice, and The Cranberries. There is this nostalgic and thoughtful element to her music that allows her to shine.

After moving to London in 2022, the singer has developed her sound and now she enters our pages with her latest EP “Grassroots”. “Grassroots” is the debut EP from the emerging indie-pop/rock singer. The project is an introspective concept record about moving to London. It was recorded in a north London studio earlier this year, utilizing jangly electric guitars and crashing drums. The four track EP ranges from catchy pop numbers ‘Background’ and ‘Hidden Away’ to emotional ballad ‘Think Twice’ and indie rock influenced ‘Give Me Faith’. Lyrically, it deals with themes such as growing up, social anxiety and self-belief.

Her guitar-based music has been noted for its personal lyrics and authenticity. Bird released three singles in 2022 which were supported by Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing. This led to her growing her fan base across social media. Frankie Bird’s debut EP is a body of work which showcases her songwriting capabilities and solidifies her as an artist to watch in her genre. ‘Grassroots’ is out on streaming platforms now.
