Over the last few years, music has felt like it is in a weird place. I can’t put my finger on it, but I will say that a lot of artists and songs lack emotion. There is so much music coming out, but we seem to be exposed to the gimmicks and music that lacks substance. Although I love my party songs, I have been searching for artists that are making music from the heart. I want substance, concepts, and themes within the music I listen to. Each week, I shuffle through thousands of song and projects, but I always seem to find one diamond in the rough. This week I came across Fortress Nino.

Fortress Nino is an eclectic artist that has taken the global music scene by storm with his dynamic sound. With roots that trace back to Lagos, his sound is a draws influence from both Afropop & hip-hop. His songs are raw, daring, and they are captivating. Now, the rising artist enters our pages with his latest collab project, “MINT GREEN EP”.

“MINT GREEN EP” is a collab project from Fortress Nino and a Dallas-based producer. The EP takes listeners on a sonic journey that they won’t want to end. The songs are vibrant, dynamic, and they have intoxicating rhythm. The EP discusses themes of identity, ambition, and the pursuit of dreams.

My favorite songs were “Ice Cold” & “bbii”. “Ice Cold” is laced with gritty production and introspective lyrics. This is a song that I could see on a Kanye West album due to the soundscape. This record is about resilience and perseverance to achieve your goals even in tough situations. Fortress Nino’s vocals were just so inviting on this record, and I was hooked from start to finish. “bbii” has some of the best production elements, and the hook is a chef’s kiss. This is one of the best songs I have heard as of late, and I loved the introspective approach. This song dives into themes of love and loyalty, & I connected with this song the most due to its melodic sound.

Overall, this is an EP that deserves to be heard so stream it below!
