When it comes to music discovery, I always find myself searching for bands that are willing to bring listeners into their world. I yearn for bands that are looking to push the boundaries lyrically & sonically. Because of that, I find myself searching for disruptors that refuse to align with the genre norms. Although it’s often hard finding these artists, it feels like I hit the lottery when I do. This week, I came across a diamond in the rough called Ex-Okay.

Hailing from Utah, Ex-Okay is a fiery band that packs a punch. With their engaging punk-rock sound, they have captivated audiences with songs that evoke raw emotions. They are raw, daring, and their songs will make you want to run through a wall.

For those that follow band the religiously, I have incredible new. The band plans on dropping their long-awaited “R.E.D” October 25th. The project will feature untold stories, engaging instrumentation, and otherworldly hooks. I personally believe this EP to be their magnum opus, and it’s a monumental return for the band.

The five-track EP was recorded and produced at N.R.G Studios and CounterPoint Studios with the help of John Haze (production), Chris Lord Alge (mixing), and Maor Appelbaum (mastering). Showing the bands growth and maturity, the EP consists of 5 tracks: “Angel Below,” “A Thousand Pictures, One Word,” “Ocean Between Us,” “Ashes,” and “Second Chance.” For me, “Angel Below” was my personal favorite, The record is punk-rock masterpiece carried by vibrant production and colorful melodies. I fell in love with the tempo and the percussive elements that truly make this song standout. To add to the sonics, those vocals were a chef’s kiss. Although the EP has no skips, this is a song you have to listen to!

After listening to the EP, I can say this is a gamechanger. The band are truly in their element, and they are about embark on an unforgettable rise in the music industry. This is a must-listen album so make sure you’re ready for the drop on October 25th.
