When it comes to music, I am always searching for artists that defy genre norms and push the boundaries. I yearn to hear the unheard, and I fight for the those that I believe deserve to have a voice. Although the industry is very saturated, there are these rare times where I come across a diamond in the rough. This week, I was impressed when I came across emerging artist Emma Roellig.

Hailing from San Francisco, CA, Roellig is an indie singer-songwriter that has captivated audiences with a sound that evokes raw emotions out of her listeners. She is raw, daring, and her songs have an introspective feel that makes you feel seen & heard. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Noah Kahan & Phoebe Bridgers, her songs are laced with her evocative lyrics & soulful melodies. Her ability to share personal experiences and relate to the common listener makes her so likeable. Now, she debuts on our pages with her latest EP “Fire Signs”.

“Fire Signs” is a transformative project that dives into the ebbs & flows & intricate emotions that come with being in a relationship with the wrong person. The whirlwind and loneliness that comes from these tumultuous relationships are made clear throughout the project, & the songs all shine a light on different perspectives of love & loss. The record was entirely written & performed by Roellig, and the production by Rob Enea was exceptional.

My favorite records from the 5-track EP were “Overflow” & “Miles Away”. “Overflow” is a beautiful song that is a positive closure to the EP. The record is reflective and gives listeners a shimmer of hope and optimism. This record is entirely self-written by Emma Roellig and produced by Rob Enea. Exploring the complex feeling of grieving someone’s potential is the main theme of “Miles Away”. Sonically, “Miles Away” was my favorite record. The song is raw, daring, and it showcases Emma’s exceptional talents as a songwriter & singer. Overall, “Fire Signs” is a great introduction to the rising singer. With that being said, stream it below and vibe out!
