Raw, daring, & captivating are all words that describe emerging artist Dre Palindrome. Hailing from Nashville, TN, the burgeoning star has taken the industry by storm with his intoxicating cadences and prolific flows. His versatility and keen ear for production has allowed him to deliver a soundscape that has listeners hooked. Although he is an artist first, his production ability under the alias DromeGod is stellar. Now, he has released his vibrant album, “City Prophet”.
“City Prophet” is a 7-track album full of colorful sounds and exceptional songwriting. This is one of the most cohesive projects I have heard in years. For me, his ability to fuse elements of r&b & hip-hop with pop undertones can’t be overlooked. This music is just timeless. In a time where most modern music is formulaic, “City Prophet” pushes the boundaries in ways that most albums have failed. It is dynamic, vibrant, and the production is otherworldly.
My favorite songs from the album were “Fathers’s Correction”, “Till The Sunrise”, & “Today”. It’s not surprising that I fell in love with a lot of the first half of the album, because they left such an impression on me from the jump. “Fathers’s Correction” is a coming-of-age record that discusses the relationship between father & son. Dre uses his songwriting prowess to discuss the dynamic of this relationship with melodic runs and his unique raspy vocals. The production is exceptional, and it’s memorable due to its atmospheric and psychedelic feel. “Till The Sunrise” has an eerie intro before diving into Kid Cudi-esque production. The sonics are innovative, and they lay the perfect canvas for Dre to discuss the nuances of a toxic relationship. The production on this perfectly compliments his vocal tone. As people, we have all been in a toxic relationship, and we sometimes don’t know when to move on. This song is about doing just that, and I found that it hit me personally. “Today” is laced with engaging synths and trap drums that are more my style sonically. The production was so good that I would have been fine with this just being an instrumental. Dre enters the song with flair, and he delivers some of his most memorable flows. Overall, this is a must-hear project. With that being said, stream the album below and see what you have been sleeping on.
