THERA Bears It All On Her Debut Album, “I Wish I Called”

When it comes to music discovery, I am always search for artists that push the boundaries and bring you into their world. In a time where most modern music feels formulaic, I yearn for the artists that are making music that I consider healing. There is nothing like listening to a song or album that you connect with. For me, listening to music that gives me goosebumps is a high that I chase every time I play a new artist. Although the industry is saturated with artists and music emerging daily, I still find a way to come across hidden gems that are moving music forward. This week, I came across rising singer-songwriter THERA.
THERA is a Czech singer that has taken the industry by storm. After going viral with her single “DLTTI”, I could see she had the “IT” factor. However, it’s not the virality that makes her so special. For me, I fell in love with her songwriting. At only 17-years-old, the burgeoning star is penning records that evoke raw emotions out of her listeners. She is daring, raw, and captivating. Drawing influence from the likes of SZA, Tate McRae, Madison Beer, and Rihanna, THERA has found a way to take the best elements of each of them and implement them into her beautiful sound. Now, she enters our pages with her debut album, “I Wish I Called”.
For starters, “I Wish I Called” is a masterpiece, and it is her magnum opus. The production is exceptional, and her songwriting is personal. This album reminds me of how I felt when I listened to Lorde’s “Born Heroine”. There is something special about hearing a young artist craft music so mature. THERA bears it all, and she creates a timeless album that will be remembered for years to come.
If you are new to the rising star, this album will be the soundtrack to your life. THERA teamed up with producers Martin Prikryl, Matej Moravek, Matej Belko, & Nigel Lowis who helped create a soundscape that is innovative and digestible. My favorite songs were “guardian angel”, “stain”, & “DLTTI”. Overall, this is a must-hear album, and it is an introduction to the music industry’s next star.
