Have you ever listened to an artist that caught your attention on the first listen? If so, what made them standout? Was is it their cadence or overall delivery? Or was it there songwriting? This week, I came across a rising artist that made me fall in love with music all over again. That artist is Chris Wheat.

Hailing from Washington, D.C, the rising artist/producer has taken the music industry by storm. He’s raw, in your face and his exceptional vocal abilities have him becoming a household name. His skills make him an outlier amongst his counterparts, and he continues to grow. Now, he enters our pages with his latest album, ‘Everyone Wants To Be Archibald Leach’.

The 8-track masterpiece is inspired by the Hollywood actor Archibald Leach, also known as “Cary Grant”. Sonically, the album pulls from a wide range of sounds, and the vocal execution was exceptional. The multi-talented artists uses his production as a canvas to detail the persona of a man living a romantic double life. The songwriting was captivating, and the flows were a chef’s kiss. His attention to detail is what makes this album so pure. I have yet to here an artist that was this prolific behind a mic in a while. This is more than an album. This is an entertaining story told by one of the industry’s most engaging rising artists.

My favorite songs were “Google Fantasy”, “Men of The Tribe”, & “Archibald”. I found those songs to be very moving, and they perfectly describe the overall sound and feel of the project. For me, this was a great introduction to one of the most creative artists in the industry. If you are looking for the industry’s next star, look no further. Chris Wheat is changing the way artists push their albums. His innovation and progressiveness has changed the game forever. Stream the album below and vibe out!
