Music discovery has been and will continue to be about finding the artists that are set to change the entire industry. In a time where music feels formulaic and emotionless, I continue to search for artists that are pioneering this next generation. Regardless of monthly listeners and hype, all I care about is the music. What story are you trying to tell? What sets you apart from the rest of the industry? Do I connect with this? These are all questions that I try to answer when finding new artists. This week, I came across an artist that has caught my attention. That artist is Chris.

Christopher Burkich, also known as Chris, is an emerging singer that is destined to change the game. Drawing influence from various sounds, he has captivated audiences with dynamic genre-bending records. Hailing from Tennessee, his childhood has played a big hand in his multi-genre sound. He grew up listening to various genres, and he takes those influences and implements them into the music he creates. Chris can’t be put into a box, and I consider him to be an artist to watch. Now, he enters our pages with his debut album, “Call It a Day”.

“Call It a Day” is a beautiful 10-track album that I consider to be Chris’ magnum opus. His vocal performances were exceptional, and the sonics were engaging. The mix & master were crisp and that enhanced the overall sound. From his vocal runs to his cadence selections, you can tell this kid is a star. In “Upset”, I loved his vocal stacks, lush melodies, and the warmth of his vocals made this song one of my favorites. This was a record about being himself, and that is something we should all strive for. “Move On” has the best hook on the album. His vocals were captivating, and I loved the instrumentation and feel of the sonics. This was a record about two people that are on two different pages when it comes to being in love. He’s reflecting on a relationship where he wanted more, but he realizes that it may just be better to call it quits. Although those were my favorite songs, the album is flawless. Other songs to check out would be “Love Me?” & “Hung Up”.

With that being said, check out the album below and vibe out!
