In today’s music industry, creating music as an artist is not enough. You have to continuously captivate audiences, and you have to treat your career like a business. There needs to be a clear intention on what you are trying to portray, and that is what will help you make your breakthrough. Although this sounds easy on paper, there are only a few artists that come across as genuine while promoting their brand. One artist that I feel has everything needed to be a star is Cashavelly.

Cahsavelly is an exceptional singer-songwriter that has become a force within the music industry. She is daring, captivating, and mesmerizing. Her refreshing pop tunes evoke real emotions, and it pushes everyone to want more out of this world. The girl is full of confidence, and her vocals are otherworldly. It’s almost like she was destined at birth to be a singer. Her talent surely proves this. For me, I think the one thing that stands out is that she makes music with substance. Often times, pop music can feel a bit plastic, but her songs have an introspective side that dives into deeper topics. That’s what makes her so important to the music industry. She is going against genre norms and creating her own lane. Now, she debuts on our pages with her latest album, “Meditation Through Gunfire”.

“Meditation Through Gunfire” is everything you want in an album. It is cohesive, fiery, and it is impactful. Cashavelly discusses themes of societal norms, defiance, and it is about finding peace even when the world around you is messy. For me, this album came out the perfect time. We have a political election, and there is so much distrust and uneasiness all around us. At times, it feels like we are leaving in this purgatory where uncertainty is a way of life. However, that is why we should lean on albums like this. This is more than an album; it is manifesto or declaration that change can happen. This is an album for women who are sticking together, and it is also for men who believe in the power and strength of women. If there are any men reading this, accountability is needed.

I think my favorite thing about the album is her self-awareness and ability to understand how the patriarchy also infantilizes men. Her ability to reflect and understand makes her so personable. Over these 16 beautiful tracks, she bears it all. Although each song is a piece of a bigger puzzle when it comes to the album, my favorite songs were “Meditation Through Gunfire”, “Royal Blue”, & ‘Sugarcoat”. I found those songs to be the most captivating and most relatable. Also, I believe they show how expansive her sound is. From a songwriting standpoint, it was a chef’s kiss. Her ability to use words and sing them in a way that makes you feel every note and lyric needs to be studied. She’s just that good. Overall, this was a great listening experience. Cashavelly has made a fan out of me, and you stream her latest album below!
