Hailing from California, Nashville-based singer-songwriter, Bre Kennedy, is everything that is good within the music industry. Bre is an exceptional artist, and she has this innate ability to craft infectious records that pull at listeners heartstrings. She is daring, raw, and she draws inspiration from the nuances of everyday life. Her ability to connect and relate to her listeners is why she is a burgeoning star in the making. Now, the industry’s best kept secret lands on our pages with her groundbreaking album “Scream Over Everything”.

“Scream Over Everything” is a 9-track masterpiece that was written over the course of one metamorphic year. Each song builds on the next, and I loved how cohesive the project was sonically. As a listener, you are able to see Bre grow as a human through her introspective songwriting. Bre makes the most of her personal universe as she recounts stories of reconnecting with estranged family members, seeking therapy, and growing into and out of relationships. For me, this album is her magnum opus, and it shows her growth as singer & songwriter since the release of her album “Note to Self”. Bre seems more comfortable on this entire record, and I can confidently say that she has found her voice.

The album was produced by Davis Naish (Joshua Bassett and Katelyn Tarver) and mixed by Konrad Snyder (Noah Kahan and Kacey Musgraves). My personal favorites from the project were “Hello” & the title track “Scream Over Everything”. “Hello” is a synth-soaked anthem featuring a spoken word verse from Jake Wesley Rogers. Bre’s vocal range and tone were exceptional on this record. It’s a euphoric single that is full of nostalgia and hope.

“Hello" is a song about reframing. It was written after a conversation with my producer, Davis Naish, about how bad I am at goodbyes. I tend to dread letting go and saying goodbye, and we talked about what it would be like if, instead of running from goodbye, I said hello.” – Bre Kennedy

Overall, this is one of my favorite albums of the year and Bre shows that she is next up. From her vocals to her songwriting, she is bringing back “REAL” music!
