In today’s music industry, it is very rare that I come across an artist that stands the test of time. Although I can blame it oversaturation, I feel as if artists aren’t connecting to the listeners like they used to. Growing up, hearing a new song from your favorite artist was euphoric and it served as a timestamp to one of the best moments of your life. When it came to the music, the songs and albums were pure and there were no shortcuts taken. From the sonics to the vocals, music was alive and well. Though I sometimes get lost in the blandness and plastic sound of today’s industry, there are a few artists that are still releasing groundbreaking music. I recently came across an exceptional artist that goes by the name Boski.
Boski is unlike anyone I have heard as of recent. He doesn’t paint within the lines, and his perfectly imperfect sound is what makes him so unique. In a day & age where people chase perfection, Boski’s music is all about the feeling he can bring to each track. Hailing from Tennessee, the multi-instrumentalist brings a refreshing sound to an oversaturated industry. Drawing influence from indie, alternative, hip-hop, & soul, Broski fuses all the genres into one beautiful sound. His music is daring, captivating, & mesmerizing. For me, he is anomaly that deserves to be heard. Now, he debuts on our pages with his latest album, “Feels Like The End”.
“Feels Like The End” is a masterpiece, and I consider it to be Boski’s magnum opus. The overall energy is contagious, and I loved the nostalgic feel to the sonics. At times, I was reminded of bands like The Strokes & Bloc Party while listening to it. For soccer fans, Boski is out here making FIFA music.
My favorite songs were “Feels Like The End”, “Nothing Lasts”, & “I Don’t Have to Win”. Although it’s a short track, “Feels Like The End” reminds me of late 90s & early 2000s rock. It is a daring record laced with crunchy guitars, and I loved the vocal tones. To add to the exceptional songwriting, the hook is otherworldly. As someone that is dealing with a life changing issue that makes me feel like my world is crumbling, this track left a lasting imprint on me. “Nothing Lasts” is an introspective record that is laced with warm guitar tones and engaging melodies. Boski’s vocals were made for this beat. Sonically, this was my favorite. “I Don’t Have to Win” is a record about personal growth and realization. This was Boski’s mature take on life, and this record shows his ability to look within and find that there is more to life.
Overall, this is one of the most cohesive and sonically engaging projects I have heard all year. If you are looking for a refreshing album to be the soundtrack of your life, look no further, Boski’s new album deserves a listen!
