The team here at Banger of The Day have been huge fans of the band Joan for years now. This duo from Little Rock has brought soft pop on a whole other level. They incorporated a little bit of a nostalgic feeling from the R&B nineties era. The soft, dreamy melody encompasses the essence of wishful thinking.

“Face,” covers the feelings of loneliness after a heartbreak of loss. Joan mentions not wanting to wake up without that person again, not looking in an empty closet and all the despair within. Those of us who’ve experienced grief can relate to this song almost too well. Joan captures all of the emotions that take over our body in complete shock while trying to cope through loss.

The lyrics made this song so mesmerizing with their accuracy. They mentioned all of the things we do during the grief and how to adapt. All of the times we have to remind ourselves that said person is not there. The triumphant symphony with the guitar riffs brought actual tears to our eyes as the familiar memory of loss came back to the surface. To truly appreciate and understand Joan, “Face” is a beautiful piece of work that will show you how talented this duo is.

Lyrics That Stick: “I’m talking to a ghost. You haunt me everyday. You were flesh and blood but now you’re just in picture frames.”
