After releasing the highly controversial yet viral video for his hit single ‘MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)’, Lil Nas X is back with a more introspective record titled ‘SUN GOES DOWN’. The record is a melodic gem that is led by an acoustic guitar that will be strumming in your head well after the song’s 3-minute runtime. With its ambient feel and confessional lyricism, ‘SUN GOES DOWN’ proves to be one of the rising artist’s most relatable songs. In addition to releasing the single, Nas X also blessed viewers with a cinematic video that takes us all back to prom.
The video is layered with psychedelic effects and the color grading provides a sense of euphoria that will make you feel like you are in a dream. In addition, the storytelling through the visuals helps bring the struggles Lil Nas X faced being a young adult to life. Although it is a massive change from his previous video, the cinematic feel and the vulnerability shown by Nas X has made me a huge fan of the direction that he is going.
