When you are young, you go through so many firsts that you tend to lose yourself at times. Whether it’s your first kiss, first love, or first heartbreak, it feels like these moments seem to be the most memorable when you look back in retrospect. Although it’s easy to identify these moments, it’s often hard for many people to say what went wrong out loud. For me, I think the best form of expression is music, and I find myself yearning for singles that bring about the raw feelings of having these firsts. One artist that is the “KING” of love & heartbreak records is emerging singer/songwriter Rauly. After impressing us with singles such as “This Is Love” & “Obvious”, he has proven that he as an innate ability to craft melancholic single with an upbeat. The juxtaposition of his records is what draws me in as a listener, and his vulnerable songwriting is the cherry on top. Now, the rising star returns to our pages with his latest “Lost It”, and I believe it’s his best song to date.

“Lost It” is a perpetual forward motion song that has a playful thump and a certain melancholy that’s tagged along. It has a meaningful ingredient of truthfulness about how loss is camouflaged and concealed under the theater of everyday changing life. The song starts with a crisp sounding drum loop that’s refreshing and energetic. A bass line that’s reminiscent of a 2000’s alternative rock song. Shoegaze electric guitar that glides in interlocking all the instruments as Rauly comes in singing “What’s it cost/ What’s the price…To replace this heart of mine”.. The song then tumbles down into more warm tones and spacious atmospheric ambiance. Arpeggiated guitar fills that fill in the empty spaces easing the tension between the musical ensemble. The song is rich with little details making the complete arrangement alive. Overall, Rauly continues to get better and better. His Starpower is ever so evident, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. With that being said, stream his new single above and vibe out!
