When it comes to music discovery, there is a beauty in finding songs that really move you as a person. After searching for weeks on weeks this year, I was losing faith due to the oversaturation of sounds and the lack of originality I was experiencing in many songs. However, this week, I was blessed to find an artist that has all the tools to be a star. His name is Zach Hood.
Zach Hood is an Alabama-born and Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist that has an unpredictable punk-inflected pop sound of his own highlighted by quotable lyrics and hummable hooks. Although I’m new to his discography, his latest single “I Miss My Friends” is an ode to the emotions that stem from the reality of having to pack your life up and move due to success. After blowing up on TikTok, Zach left his roots and moved to LA to live out his dreams. Although there are perks to being well known online, Hood describes how he yearns to be around those he misses back home. His smooth vocals and forward moving production really display his feelings and uncertainty throughout the song. There is something beautiful in connecting with a song from start to finish, and Hood allowed us to do that throughout this song. Overall, Hood has gained a new fan in me, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for the rising star. With that being said, stream his music video for the track above and make sure to add it to your playlists.
