remy - i know why you stay out (Official Music Video)

If you were to take elements of alt-pop and mesh them with indie-rock and hip-hop undertones, you would get emerging singer/songwriter remy. Although he’s relatively new as an artist, remy has been behind some of our favorite Top 40 records, and he has taken his confidence to put together something of his own. With his latest release ‘i know why you stay out’, remy pens a song about a significant other that seems incapable of being fully vulnerable and committing to a relationship. The song is nostalgic and it’s a coming of age story of realizing that you have the ability to control some of the insecurities and issues you may have. In addition to the song, remy also delivered a video for the song.
The visuals are nostalgic and they are layered with VHS effects that help bring a wholesome feel to the video. In addition, the video features remy in his room along with countless early 1990s and 2000s items such as a GameCube, a Tommy Hilfiger sweater, and countless vinyl records. Although simplistic, the video gives a very open feel that will make you understand the lyrics in a way that hearing it can’t. You see the anguish and worry on the face of remy, and his ability to express himself visually helps the listeners relate to the overall message. With that being said, we are excited about his future, and we hope to hear more from him soon.
