The storyline of this song right off the bat was intriguing as you see Trippie as a high school student hanging out with his homies outside of the school and Busta Rhymes rolling up to chat in a limo.
Busta Rhymes explains he needs Trippie Redd to see what’s going on with a girl’s mom he’s talking to and that’s when the fun begins! The iconic walk down the hallway shows Trippie’s status so vividly as him and his crew make their way through the school. The song starts to pick up and we get these clear shots that bring all the nostalgia of High School back so quickly.
The following scene displays students in the gym playing dodge ball as Busta Rhymes makes his presence with his fire verse. The following shot, Trippie is taking home his girl as he spots the woman Busta’s been looking for and gives him a call immediately. The classic red mustang he pulled up in really completed his character of “the man” in high school and we were vibing with the overall presentation to a T!
We realized the song’s title left a double meaning after watching the video. ‘I Got You,’ ties into Trippie saying he’s got his girl and also keeping his word with Busta Rhymes and completing the favor asked.
