Doja Cat Has Our “Attention” With Her Latest Single

Have you ever reminisced about when you first found an artist that went on to be a global star"? Well, I do. For me, I remember the first time I heard the icon, Doja Cat. I was sitting in my dorm room and my girlfriend played me her single “No Police”. It was like an outer body experience for me. Her ability to sing and rap with purpose was unlike anyone I had heard. The single had me hooked on the first listen, and I would be a liar if I said I wasn’t a fan after that.

As years passed, I have been able to see her emerge as a global star. She has given us exceptional bodies of work with “Amala”, “Hot Pink”, and the well-received “Planet Her”. However, as she has grown within the masses, it would be naive for me to say that I didn’t expect a transformation over time. As her star power grew, the more hate and controversy surrounded one of the humblest artists I know. Doja Cat isn’t here to play perfect for anyone. She is completely herself and has shown that if you can’t accept that, get out of her way. Although there are many calling for her to get help, drop the new album, make more pop, etc., Doja returned this week to give everyone the middle finger and went back to her roots as a rapper!

On her latest offering “Attention”, Doja silences her haters, and she calls out everyone trying to govern her life decisions. This is a different Doja than the bubbly & upbeat version we have gotten for the last 3 years. Her delivery is clear, wordplay is exceptional, and you can tell that she’s been compartmentalizing a lot of undeserved “BS” over her stardom. The release comes at the perfect and it has me excited for her next body of work. With that being said, stream the visual for the single above!
