When it comes to artists that have shaped me over the years, Trip Carter is one of the first names I bring up. I remember seeing him open up and also play along side Felly on one of his tours in 2016, and I could tell that he had a high ceiling. Fast forward to now, Trip has built a great platform for himself, and he has continued to put out refreshing singles that put his originality on full display. Now, he is back with his second Fall release titled “Wasting Time In Hell”, and it may be my favorite song to date.
The production is bright and it is led by smooth 808s and lush melodies that will have you moving your body from start to finish. In addition, I have always felt his raspy vocals were unique and his wordplay and lyricism is so relatable. Overall, the single is for everyone that has felt stuck in a relationship that is detrimental to both partners. Trip does a great job of allowing listeners to understand that not every relationship needs to be fought for if you guys are both unhappy. This has to be one of our favorite releases of the week, and we are excited to see what Trip does next! Stream the single below!
Lyrics That Stick:
“Girl who were we fooling
Wasting time in hell”
