Have you ever felt like you lost someone that already feels lost? If so, you are not alone. The feeling of being so distant yet connected to people is a feeling that we all go through. Whether it is with family or with old friends, this crippling feeling is something we all experience. Although it is often to express these feelings of loss, I came across an artist that has presented these feelings in a song.

Hailing from Los-Angeles, CA, 19-year-old singer/songwriter, Raine, has been curating a sound that is introspective and often confessional. With her exceptional vocals and ability to craft singles that will pull at your heartstrings, the artist has found a unique way to connect with artists in a way that feels genuine.

After impressing us with her singles “Never Tell” and “P.C.H”, she finally debuts on our pages with her latest single “Tuesday”. ‘Tuesday” is a beautiful record that is laced with captivating synths, lush melodies, and lyrics that will melt your heart. Raine does an incredible job in making you truly feel the weight of her words, and the transitions within the sonics help paint a beautiful story from start to finish. After the first listen, I knew this was a song that I could play over and over again. This is what Raine had to say about the song:

Tuesday is about losing someone that already felt lost. It chronicles the relationship between Raine (who considers herself the child of a single mother) and her father. Written after his sudden passing, the song reflects on the strained dynamics of a relationship marred by past mistakes and characterized by absence. Yet at the core of the song are the feelings of closeness and longing that came only after her father’s death. It is a song of grief and regret; equal parts confessional, apology, and love song. This complicated cacophony of emotions is set to a beautiful, swelling arrangement of both electronic and live instruments including a gorgeous string arrangement played by producer Omeed Almassi. Filled with voicemails from her father and intimate harmonies, the song builds to a gut wrenching section of haunting oohs before suddenly cutting out. All combine to paint the portrait of a reconciliation that never came.”

Overall, this is one of the best songs that I have heard in the last month so make sure to add it to your playlists.
