Drook Show Signs Of Brilliance With Their Anthemic New Single “She”

After listening through many submissions over the weekend, I began to think of a time where I would get absolutely hooked on songs after the first listen. I don’t know if it’s due to saturation in the music industry, but I don’t get that excitement anymore. This was a feeling I felt until I heard this new record from rising Richmond, VA band called Drook. Formed by Liza Grishaeva and Tyler Smith in 2018, the band has since added Matthew Schultz & Kaelan Brown to complete the group that we hear today. Their sound is expressive, infectious, and high-energy tuneage that will run rampant through your frontal lobe all day. Although I’m not too familiar discography, their latest offering “She” has been on constant repeat!
“She” is a vibrant indie-alt tune that feels straight out of an A24 Indie-Rom Com. It’s cohesive sonically and the build up to the chorus constantly pulls you in. In addition, the lead vocals are exceptional and remind me of some of the bands I used to listen to in the late 2000’s. With the singles inviting percussion, infectious hook, engaging guitar riffs, and lush melodies, “She” has marked itself as one of my favorite songs of the year. It is everything you want in a indie-rock/alt record. All I can think about is head banging to this at a music festival. With that being said, if you need some new music, stream this single below and rock the hell out!
