If you’ve been paying close attention to the North Carolina rap scene, then you probably have already heard of Kevin Powers. After releasing viral hits such as ‘Walked In’ and ‘Punchline’, Kevin has come into 2021 with a lot of eyes on him. In addition to gaining traction on his new music, he also was given a co-sign by some of the people behind Da Baby. With his new single ‘roddy’, Powers delivers a wavy record that seems to be one of his most replayable songs.

The record is an absolute summer anthem, and it has one of the most intoxicating hooks that I have heard all year. Although I am a fan of more of his rap records that are laced with trap production and hard hitting 808s, this song really does show the versatility of Powers. He has an innate ability to craft rap records that are compelling, but he also knows how to create melodies that will be stuck in your head from start to finish. If you need a new song to add to your playlists, make sure to add this now!

Lyrics That Stick:

“I don’t need lies

Just a pocket full of dead friends”
