GRAMMY-nominated songwriter and producer Aldae delivers a haunting new single, “Poltergeist.” The solemn single highlights his raspy vocals and sharp songwriting, all pointing to his complicated but unwavering relationship with God - the Holy Ghost bringing forth concern and conviction. The cinematic soundscape is sparse but makes a big impact when paired with his prophetic prose.
"I wrote ‘Poltergeist’ in LA at the village studios three years ago. I said “Jesus Christ is a poltergeist" in a first-pass gibberish freestyle over the guitar. I thought the lyric was jarring and maybe a little extreme, but everything else I tried to replace it with didn’t feel natural. As a kid, I would always think about heaven and hell, judgment day and the fear of not being accepted into heaven. I wrote this song about what it would feel like being rejected by God at heaven’s gates. It’s actually, technically, a Christian song." - Aldae
Aldae is one of those artists that I could see having his music in a lot of movie soundtracks. The cinematic elements match his vocal tone so well that, when paired with his lyricism, you can almost see a whole music video for the song in your head while listening.
