The best thing about music discovery has to be finding new artists that provide a refreshing and unique sound. Although it is easy to get stuck on a lot of mainstream artists and viral singles, there is a beauty in finding artists that are pushing the boundaries of music as an art. For me, the one artist that I recently found that is doing that is maxime..

maxime. is a self-produced DIY-artist that is currently based in Montreal by way of Ottawa. Although he is only 23-years-old, his sound has a vulnerable aspect that is extremely relatable to all that listen. Even though I haven’t heard much of his discography, he recently released an EP titled “telephone wires”, and it is exceptional to say the least. Overall, it is solid from start to finish, and it is a great introduction to his sound. For us, the standout single has to be “maybe i should have read the instructions first, oh well”.

The single is led by lush melodies and intoxicating instrumentation. From the very first guitar riff, I knew this song was it. In addition, the hook on this has enough energy to get a whole stadium off their feet. Overall, this is one of the most innovative singles I have heard in a while. I’m in love with the transitions, breakdowns, and the vocal delivery. With that being said, check the single out above!
