Hux - Monte Carlo
Our experiences and circumstances in life result in who we are today. They can bring the brightest of memories that we cling to, the haunting recollections we wish we could forget and the entire makeup of who we are as a person.
Hux brought us a an emotionally gripping single, asking where his Father is and ultimately the question of why he left in the first place. The vivid symbolism throughout this single focuses on the personal details within the verses and the hook entirely. You hear Hux asking himself what life would’ve been like if he had his Father in his life.
Even without knowing his Father personally, Hux still sees the similarities he wishes he didn’t have within himself. The instrumental he used for this song gradually builds into this ironically upbeat and very buoyant essence, which we were surprised he used for this specific matter. However, it gives the atmosphere throughout the unique and original approach that Hux deserves when it comes to this topic.
He mentions how his father doesn’t even know he has a son of his own. We hear his confusion and resentment when Hux mentions he hadn’t heard from his Father, not once within the twenty birthdays he’s celebrated without him. Even though his memories are limited when it comes to his this man, Hux still remembers him driving off in that ‘Monte Carlo’ so distinctly!
Lyrics That Stick:
“Wonder what my life
What it would’ve been like
If you never left in that 79’ Monte Carlo.”
