Over the last 5 years, Florida has been a hotbed for emerging artists such as Dominic Fike, BabyJake, and countless others that have found a way to leave their imprint on the music industry. One name that comes to mind for me is Panama City-born artist ASTN. With his ability to incorporate R&B, jazz, and indie-pop into one sound, he has stolen the hearts of many listeners that have come to love him. In his latest offering ‘eight five 911’, ASTN continues his hot streak of releases with a single that is about his reality of moving to LA as a rising star.
The single is smooth and it features his well-known melodies that will have you hooked from start to finish. This is one of the more introspective releases from the emerging artist, and we see a more personal side from him that we don’t always get from his songs that are more love-oriented. ASTN talks about his grassroots journey from the deep south to the city of angels, and he shares anecdotes of how he is in a spot where he is finally reaping the benefits of his past decisions. He has been honing in on his craft, and we can tell that he is bringing something fresh to the music scene.
Lyrics That Stick
“I've been keeping quiet moving stealth
Kinda getting good at being by myself
And I don't need nobody help beside the team
We been doing pretty well”
