When it comes to life, I think the hardest thing most people have difficulty dealing with is change. Whether it’s ending our first relationship, changing jobs, moving away, or heading off to college, these pivotal moments alter our lives in ways that we can’t always comprehend. Sometimes, the change doesn’t only affect us, but it also changes those around us. As a person that has experienced all of these things, I found belief and comfort in a new artist named Xander Wavy. This week, I came across his song “college life”, and it brought back all the nostalgia.

Although I’m new to his sound, I listened to his latest single and fell in love with his overall sound. To me, he has a sound that seems inspired by Dominic Fike, Weston Estate, and songwriting elements of emerging singer/songwriter Aries. Vocally, he is exceptional, and his beat seems to mesh well with his vulnerable lyricism. On his latest song “college life”, Xander shines. Over the warm sonics, captivating guitar riffs, and lush melodies, Xander controls the narrative of going through changes. In his life, he’s personally dealing with lost relationships and different vices that come with leaving for the college life. This is a feeling that most can relate to. What I like most is that he accepts the feelings of everyone involved while also conveying his personal feelings. That level of maturity and advanced songwriting makes him anomaly amongst rising artists. If you are looking for the next big thing, stream this song below and vibe out.
