As a writer within the music industry, I’m always looking for the “NEXT BIG THING”. I spend hours across multiple platforms searching for genre-bending sounds that keep pushing the industry forward. I look at it like fishing. If you are patient enough, you will eventually catch the “BIG ONE”. This week, I feel like I came across an artist that I can consider my catch of the week, and his name is Kaz Moon. Kaz Moon is an artist that presents a perfect blend of rawness amplified with the glitter & gold of modern artistry. After checking out his discography, I was impressed with his EP’s “Curses! Pt. 1” & “Curses! Pt.2”. Over the two years it took him to release both, I felt the emerging artist really established his sound and voice. Now, he debuts on our pages with his latest release “A lot to explain”, and it is my song of the week.

For those who love an incredible cover art scheme, throw that out of the door. Sometimes the music is so good that it doesn’t matter what you are looking at on the cover art. This is one of those times. “A lot to explain” is a hypnotizing single that is laced with lush melodies, captivating baselines, and an exceptional vocal performance. Sonically, the production has a sensual feel that meshes well with the vulnerable lyricism. Although it carries bedroom pop elements, the song is a modern take on bluesy garage rock mixed with lofi-inspired pop production. In my opinion, that is what makes the record shine amongst all the other submissions I receive. This is what Kaz had to say about the song:

"This might have been the first thing I ever recorded after moving to New York in 2021, I remember working on it in my new apartment, which at the time was really cursed looking. The previous tenant was some kind of alcoholic. It had like two decaying couches facing each other, just a really cursed environment. Then I made this."

This is the first single from Kaz Moon's forthcoming project ST*R *NISE. With that being said, make sure to stay on the lookout for that and stream this below.
